The Museum of Regretful Temptations
"The Museum of Regretful Temptations is an exhibition that focuses on the irresistible seduction of pasta. Though a simple food item, pasta has an unbelievable amount of appeal to all kinds of people around the world. Its low price lends it a place in any budget, no matter how tight. Its easy preparation and speedy cook-time make it a go-to for those who find themselves constantly pressed for time. Its mild, satisfying flavor allows for it to be a part of a vast number of dishes and fuse with many different flavors seamlessly. The convenience and versatility of pasta make it easy to overlook the fact that it possesses almost no nutritional value at all. The appeals of it force us to weigh the pros and cons each and every time we consider eating a pasta dish.
This exhibition highlights the tempting quality of what is ultimately a significant contributor to obesity. It does this without the context. The appeal of pasta: the price, the cooking process, and the meal options all cease to exist in this exhibition. All that exists are the physical forms, blown up to a large scale and placed in a location outside of your pantry. There are no longer pros and cons of pasta, there is no longer a dispute as to whether or not to give into the temptation. With only the physical beauty, the viewer is forced to appreciate the various forms of pasta as captivating sculptural pieces rather than vehicles for obesity. Though you may have seen pasta on your dinner plate countless times, you have never seen it like this."
